Overview
This Khodiyar Mata painting brings Gujarat's Mata ni Pachedi folk art to your wall in a vivid blue field framed by a red border. A multi-armed goddess stands beneath a large parasol, surrounded by attendants, musicians, birds and a spreading tree.
Khodiyar Mata, also spelt Kodiyar, is worshipped as a form of the Divine Mother who stands for courage, strength and protection, and is traditionally shown with a crocodile as her vahana. Many families honour her as their Kuldevi. The fine patterns and floral motifs carry the devotional storytelling that defines Pachedi art.
