Vintage Wooden Printing Block – Spiral Shell Paisley Form

This block is shaped like a long, tapering teardrop that bends into a gentle S-curve, and the carving follows the shape. At the broad base sits a tight spiral rosette with radiating ribs, much like a fossil ammonite or a nautilus shell. Above it, a stepped, ladder-like band leads into a set of long parallel lines that flow up the curve to the tip.

Part of the back and side is left plain, with the original tool marks still visible. Few printing blocks are shaped this freely, which makes it one of the most unusual pieces you will find.
