Vintage Wooden Printing Block – Fan Leaf Blade Carving

Overlapping pointed leaf blades fan upward from the centre of the base on this half-round block, spreading across the whole curved face with no flat background left. The effect is of a folded fan, a scallop shell, or a spray of palm leaves, depending on how you look at it.

Each blade is cut with a clean central ridge and sharp tips, and the blades layer over one another toward the edges. It is a pure study in repeated form, and one of the most sculptural silhouettes in a printing-block collection.
